It's that time of year for spooktacular Halloween cookies! I dare say I love Halloween-decorated cookies even more than Christmas cookies.

If you need some scary inspiration, here are some awesome ideas for Halloween cookies.

Now, I wouldn't necessarily put decorated cookies in the "easy" category, but here are some resources to get you started.

how to decorate cookies

First, you'll need to master the basics of cookie decorating.

The cookies

Here is a recipe for delicious no-spread cut-out cookies. We also have a recipe for cream cheese cut-out cookies and dark chocolate cut-out cookies.

Check out this post for recommendations on baking trays.

The icing

Traditionally, cookies are decorated with royal icing. This version uses meringue powder (dried egg whites).

Sugar cookie icing does not require egg whites or meringue powder, tastes delicious, and is super easy to make.
